Does Mayaka carry any decaffeinated teas?

We do not currently carry any decaffeinated teas, but we have herbal teas, such as the Mayaka Soolim tea and the Mayaka Ginger tea, which do not contain caffeine.
In Asian countries, decaffeinated tea is almost unheard of. All our teas are processed using traditional methods, without chemicals, in order to keep their authentic taste and aroma. Since the process of decaffeinating tea alters the flavour and involves chemical processing, we are currently choosing to offer teas in their most natural state.
For those who are seeking to lower their caffeine consumption, we suggest them to steep their tea bag or tea leaves in hot water for around 45 seconds and discard the water. This method will significantly reduce the caffeine content in subsequent infusions.  Research suggests that 70-80% of the caffeine is released in the first infusion. If you are sensitive to caffeine, we recommend you to consult your health care provider.

What is the difference between Chinese green tea and Japanese green tea?

Japanese and Chinese green teas both come from the same Camellia sinensis tea plant which is native to Asia. The main difference lies in the way the leaves are processed. Chinese harvesters pan fry the leaves in a large wok. However, Japanese green tea leaves are steamed, dried naturally, and then rolled into needle shape before they dry completely. Their appearance and taste are distinct and enjoyable in their own ways.

Do you have any specific recommendation for preparing teas?

The brewing method is different for each type of tea and has an impact on its flavour and colour. To taste all the subtleties of your tea and to enjoy it at its best, please refer to the Our Product section for brewing tips.

What are the teas or herbal teas that you recommend for pregnant or lactating women?

We recommend you to always check with your health care practitioner before drinking any teas or herbal teas if you are pregnant or breast feeding women.
